Fantasy Football Morning Update: Uncertainty for Jennings, SJ39
Here's my fantasy takeaway from the Giants' beatdown of the Panthers on Thursday night: RB Andre Brown and WR Ramses Barden were terrific, but let's not put them in the Pro Bowl just yet. When Ahmad Bradshaw and Hakeem Nicks get healthy, Brown and Barden may still have roles, but probably not featured roles. Brown is the better bet to keep getting work as part of a committee with Bradshaw, but let's see how the injured guys recover. Also, it's probably time to jump off the David Wilson fantasy bandwagon. Remember how crowded that was a few weeks ago?

If you need help getting ready for Sunday's games even after reading today's blog entry, here's what you can do before kickoff:
- Send your questions to me via Facebook or Twitter. You can also tweet lineup questions to my colleagues Joel Beall, Ryan Fowler and Mike Harmon.
- Listen to hosts Harmon, Peter Burns and Nate Lundy on the FOX Fantasy Freaks on FOX Sports Radio Sunday from 9 a.m. until noon ET. You can tweet questions to those guys as well.
- Join a pregame chat with Beall and me on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
- Review my Week 3 rankings, along with all the great information at our fantasy football news page.
On to the news:
- Packers WR Greg Jennings has had a setback with his groin injury, and did not practice Thursday. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday that "maybe we were a little too optimistic" this week about Jennings' chances to return. Nothing has been decided yet, but this doesn't look good, and since the Pack plays a Monday night game, you'll need to sit Jennings unless you hear some firm good news by Sunday morning. Does anyone else have Jennings and Nicks as their top two WRs on a fantasy team, like I do? %$#@!
- On a related note, Packers WR Randall Cobb was limited with a hamstring injury on Thursday, but is expected to play.
- Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hip) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, while teammate DeSean Jackson (hamstring) was full-go. We should know a little more about Maclin later today. If there's any question about Maclin's status on Sunday, remember that the Eagles play a 4:05 p.m. ET game.
- The status of Rams RB Steven Jackson will be a gametime decision due to a groin injury suffered in Week 2. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "if Jackson can't go Sunday, look for plenty of Daryl Richardson, with some Isaiah Pead sprinkled in." Richardson ran 15 times for 83 yards after Jackson got hurt in Week 2, and would be flex-worthy if Jackson doesn't play.
- Chargers TE Antonio Gates (ribs) was a full participant at practice for the second day in a row on Thursday. His teammate, Ryan Mathews, is on track to return after missing the first two games because of a broken clavicle suffered in August. Plan to start Mathews if you have him - he's RB14 for me, and figures to move up next week.
- Worried about Marques Colston's slow start? He's been hampered by a foot injury, and was limited in Thursday's practice, but there hasn't been any suggestion that he won't play this week.
- Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (foot) was limited in Thursday's practice, and that's about all we know at this point. We might be waiting until Sunday for an update on him.
- Jets CB Darrelle Revis was cleared to return to practice on Thursday after missing Week 2 with a concussion, and should be ready to go on Sunday.
- For all the talk earlier this week about how Matt Forte's ankle injury isn't as bad as originally thought, he's not practicing and is unlikely to play Sunday. Michael Bush is close to a must-start.
- Lots of Steeler notes, with LB James Harrison (knee), S Troy Polamalu (calf) and TE Heath Miller (ribs) all missing Thursday's practice. Harrison isn't expected to play, and the others are TBD. RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee) is practicing this week, but the Steelers aren't tipping their hand on his availability. The guess here is still than Mendenhall will return after the Steelers' Week 4 bye.
- Cardinals QB John Skelton (ankle) was back to practice as a limited participant on Thursday, and his status for Sunday is TBD. Even though Kevin Kolb beat the Patriots, it's not like he really beat the Patriots.
- Cowboys TE Jason Witten is "playing faster than he ever has," according to head coach Jason Garrett. Really? The guy with the recently ruptured spleen? OK.
- Lions TE Tony Scheffler hasn't practiced this week because of a calf injury, so stay tuned if you own him in a deep league.
- Here's an update on Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles, who expects to play Sunday but says he isn't 100 percent. I'd still start Charles without hesitation against the horrible Saints' defense this week.
- Hey, Darren McFadden owners: Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Knapp is confident that his team's rushing attack will get better. You need something to look forward to, right?
- Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin was limited in Thursday's practice because of a shoulder injury. RB Marshawn Lynch (back) was also limited, but if it was something to worry about, I'd have put this note a lot closer to the top of today's entry.
- The Bucs are shaking up their receiving corps, but I doubt you want to pick up Arrelious Benn or Tiquan Underwood.
- Look for Titans WR Kenny Britt to be on the field more this week, with limitations on certain routes that might put stress on his knee, according to offensive coordinator Chris Palmer. Britt's shackles aren't all the way off, but they're close.
Good luck in Week 3!
