It's a big fantasy baseball draft weekend around the country. After all, the season opens a week from tomorrow ... on Easter Sunday. Are you prepared for your draft?
Now, the FOXSports.com fantasy department just released its final fantasy baseball composite rankings update for the Top 300 players and position-by-position. Fittingly, three major fantasy-relevant players were injured post-publish. John Halpin updated everybody on Hanley Ramirez here on the Fantasy Buzz Blog earlier this week. I'm here to update you on two other noteworthy injuries.
Arizona's Adam Eaton will miss up to the first two months of the season due to a sprained left (throwing) elbow. The Diamondbacks' prospect ranked 205th in our Top 300 and just outside the Top 50 outfielders heading into the 2013 season. Eaton hit .390 this spring with 23 hits and 10 RBIs in 59 at bats. Missing two months is really going to cut into his fantasy value moving forward. You may want to avoid completely. The D-Backs outfield is now a mess with Cody Ross also nursing an injury.
St. Louis' closer Jason Motte will start the season on the disabled list with a strained pitching elbow. Mitchell Boggs will get the first chance to close with Motte on the mend. Add him to your fantasy roster.
Finally, the news is official Aroldis Chapman will remain the Cincinnati Reds' closer to begin the season. Mike Leake will take the No. 5 spot in the rotation.
