There was no streaming starter result yesterday, as Brandon McCarthy had his start pushed back until Saturday due to a minor shoulder issue. Tonight, we'll go with Pittsburgh's Erik Bedard (owned in 8.9 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) against the depleted Nationals.

On to the news:

• Remember back in the old days, when Chris Sale was named as the White Sox' closer? Oh, right, that was last week. Sale entered last night's game during the eighth inning to face left-handed Johnny Damon with two runners in base, gave up an unearned run, and came out after the frame with the game tied. Later, Addison Reed got the save in the 10th. After the game, both Sale and pitching coach Don Cooper left the door open for Sale's return to the rotation this season. South Side Sox is really confused, and so am I. If you own Reed, hold tight. Also, I think White Sox manager Robin Ventura is becoming the Mike Shanahan of fantasy baseball, using anti-fantasy subterfuge to drive us crazy.
• Dale Thayer got his second consecutive save last night for the Padres. The 31-year-old Thayer has 173 career minor-league saves, and I guess we can call him the leader of the Padres' bullpen committee during Huston Street's absence.
• Brewers OF Ryan Braun aggravated his injured Achilles last night, and is questionable for today's game.
• Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina bruised his left hand last night, but probably won't need a trip to the DL. Don't expect Molina to play today.
• Speaking of today, there are four day games on the schedule, including Reds-Brewers at 1:10 p.m. ET. Set your lineups accordingly.
• Cliff Lee is scheduled to come off the DL to start tonight for the Phillies. Start Lee if you have him.
• Andy Pettitte will make his first start of the season on Sunday against the Mariners.
• Carlos Beltran hit his ninth and 10th homers of the season last night. I like Beltran, but did anyone see this coming?
• Red Sox 3B Will Middlebrooks left last night's game due to some cramping in his hamstring. You should consider him day-to-day.
• Giants OF Angel Pagan also suffered a hamstring cramp last night, and isn't expected to play tonight.
• A's OF Yoenis Cespedes was scratched last night with a sore hand, and will have an MRI today.
• Jon Rauch notched last night's save for the Mets, but since Frank Francisco had pitched on each of the three previous days, you shouldn't think much of it.
• Have you listened to this week's Fantasy 15 podcast yet? Mike Harmon and I would appreciate it. We discussed more closer mayhem, along with Bryce Harper and some streaming starter ideas.
• The Rays aren't sure when OF Desmond Jennings (sprained knee) will return to the lineup, so they recalled Brandon Guyer from Triple A. AL-only owners might find that interesting, but since the Rays like to use their whole roster, don't look for Guyer to play every day, even in the short term.
• Two walks, a hit, two strikeouts and a scoreless inning in David Robertson's first save of the post-Mariano era? That sounds about right.
• Bobby Abreu's arrival has helped to make James Loney a platoon player for the Dodgers. If anyone deserves to be platooned, it's Loney.
• Southpaw Christian Friedrich will make his major league debut tonight against the Padres. Friedrich, 24, had a 5.00 ERA at Double A last season. Is everyone excited?
• FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal quotes a scout as saying that Reds 3B Scott Rolen's bad hitting is more than just a slump.
