Diamondbacks SS Stephen Drew is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment tonight, but team owner Ken Kendrick thinks he's a lazy slacker. Kendrick didn't use those words exactly, but he's not happy with the length of Drew's absence after last season's ankle injury, and decided to tell the media first. It's like he's being inspired by the ghost of George Steinbrenner.

Homer Bailey stunk it up for us last night, dropping our streaming starter record to 39-24 for the season. Today's pick is Clayton Richard (owned in 1.5 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) against the Giants, while tomorrow's is fellow Padre Edinson Volquez (7.5 percent owned) versus the same opponent. In PETCO I trust.

On to the news:

• Tigers C Alex Avila returned to the lineup last night, but left the game early after his hamstring tightened up again, and is probably DL-bound. Look for Gerald Laird, who has hamstring issues of his own, to get most of the playing time during Avila's absence.
• I already quit you, Francisco Liriano. Stop trying to make me think you're good again.
• White Sox 1B Paul Konerko was scratched last night due to a wrist injury, and his status for tonight is TBD.
• Yankees 2B Robinson Cano left Tuesday's game after getting hit in the forearm by a pitch, but the team thinks he'll play tonight.
• In other Yankee news, David Robertson is slated to set up for Rafael Soriano when he returns in 10 days or so, and OF Brett Gardner will probably come off the DL early next week.
• OF Justin Maxwell hit his sixth homer of the season last night while batting in the three-hole for the Astros. Maxwell's manager seems to like him, and his minor-league track record suggests a decent power-speed skillset (albeit with a sky-high K rate). Deep leaguers, take note.
• The Mariners are targeting Sunday for Felix Hernandez's next start, but don't write that in ink just yet.
• The Red Sox have sent strike-challenged SP Daniel Bard to the minors. Look for fellow walk machine Daisuke Matsuzaka to take Bard's spot in the rotation.
• Holy $#@!, Andy Pettitte! Ten strikeouts? Seriously?
• Huston Street picked up a win in his return to action for the Padres last night.
• Carlos Santana returned to the Indians' lineup Tuesday after a brief DL stint. Start him if you have him.
• With the Angels shorthanded at catcher, Hank Conger was called up and got last night's start. Conger can hit a bit - he had 11 homers in 277 at bats between the minors and majors last season. It's hard to say how long he'll be in Anaheim, though.
• I'm a little disappointed that there were only two Trevor Bauer questions in Tuesday's chat. Try to pick up the pace next week, OK?
• Speaking of Bauer, here's a combo of of a couple of Tuesday tweets from the excellent D-backs' beat writer Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic: "Nothing has been decided on Trevor Bauer. He’s obviously thrown well enough to deserve a promotion 'soon' ... A Bauer promotion could come next week, later this month, next month. All of which would qualify as 'soon.'"
• The Orioles aren't sure who will start for them on Saturday, but Chris Tillman has been solid at Triple A this season. Remember when Tillman was a can't-miss prospect?
• Here's a column from Kansas City extolling the virtues of SP Felipe Paulino. The numbers tell me to believe, but I'm not all the way there yet. With that said, Paulino is available in 74.9 percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and should absolutely be picked up if you can get him.
• Clayton Kershaw is apparently having some foot issues. Don't worry if you own Kershaw, but let's keep an eye on this.
• In other Dodger news, 3B Juan Uribe is expected to come off the DL on Monday.
• Good news and bad news for the Mets: OF Jason Bay is scheduled to come off the DL today, but SS Ruben Tejada reaggravated his quad injury in a rehab game last night. 
• A's reliever Sean Doolittle whiffed three of the four batters he faced in his big-league debut last night. Before his promotion, Doolittle had struck out 48 batters against seven walks over 25 innings at three levels of the minors. That's pretty good for a guy who was a first baseman until last fall.
• OF Alex Presley homered in his return to the Pirates on Tuesday after a brief and successful stint at Triple A. If Presley is going to keep leading off, he's worth a look in deep leagues.
• In utilityman news, Yan Gomes is back with the Blue Jays. I like this guy, and so should you if you're an AL-only owner. For now, he qualifies at catcher in FOXSports.com leagues.
