Padres 3B Chase Headley will miss at least the first two weeks of the season - and possibly a month - due to a broken left thumb. Headley broke the tip of the thumb, so hopefully the injury isn't too serious.
Still, time missed means stats missed. I dropped Headley from seventh to 10th in the third-base rankings - behind Aramis Ramirez, Brett Lawrie and Pablo Sandoval - and from 51st to 82nd overall. Headley was due for some regression from his 31-homer 2012 anyway, so if you haven't drafted yet, this injury may do you a favor if you were planning to draft him in the first four or five rounds.
Don't shift Headley any lower than 10th at the position, as the dropoff to the next tier - Pedro Alvarez, Will Middlebrooks, Martin Prado, David Freese - is pretty steep.
I'll be back here soon as spring news warrants, and every weekday during the season, as always. You can also listen to more baseball news during my thrice-weekly Fantasy 15 Podcasts.
