Good morning fantasy owners! Here are your fantasy baseball news and notes for Wednesday July 18. Six games start before 3:35 PM EST today, get your lineups set!
Note: DirecTV picked a great time to give customers a free trial of MLB Extra Innings.
American League
- Mike Trout pounded out four more hits and the Angels hit five home runs against Tigers' pitching last night.
- C.C. Sabathia's first start since coming off the DL ended in another win for the hefty lefty.
- David Ortiz will miss at least a week with an Achilles' injury.
- Franklin Morales has been moved to the bullpen. Bummer, I was just starting to like that guy in my rotation.
- Kevin Youkilis hit one over the Green Monster against his former club last night.
- Matt Capps was placed back on the DL yesterday. Glen Perkins and Jared Burton are the favorites to close. Burton picked up the save last night.
- Roy Oswalt pitched well against a red-hot A's team. Six strikeouts and only one earned run allowed in over six innings of work.
- Jonathan Sanchez was sent packing yesterday by Kansas City. Advantage Giants in Sanchez vs Melky Cabrera trade.
- Mark Trumbo hit his 26th home run last night. Boy, that home run derby really screws with a player swing.
National League
- Trevor Bauer left last night's game against Cincinnati with a groin injury.
- Chad Billingsley was placed on the 15-day DL (elbow).
- John Axford is out as the Brewers' closer and Francisco Rodriguez is in and picked up the save last night against the Cardinals.
- Ryan Braun strained his groin running to catch a fly ball last night. He's day-to-day.
- Matt Holliday left last night's game with a thigh bruise after he was hit by a pitch. He's day-to-day.
I'll add more notes throughout the day as fantasy news breaks.
