Milwaukee's Best: Kyle Lohse Signs Three-Year Deal
The final big name free agent has been inked: Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse will be joining the Brew Crew for three years and $33 mil, pending a physical.
When a team has arguably the best hitter in the National League, it only makes sense that the team wants to improve their pitching. Lohse stays in the division where he set career-highs in wins (16), ERA (2.86), Ks (143), and innings pitched (211) last season.
In the FOX Sports experts' draft March 20th, Ryan Fowler rolled the dice and selection Lohse in the 23rd round (just after Texas' Joakim Soria and before the White Sox Gavin Floyd).
For a fantasy baseball impact, Lohse may not provide your team with a lot of strikeouts (ranked 59th in 2012, same as Marco Estrada and Ubaldo Jimenez), but he'll lower your weekly ERA (ranked eighth last year) and WHIP (ranked sixth).
In the Brewer rotation, Lohse will likely pitch behind ace Yovani Gallardo and now No. 3 Marco Estrada. Mark Rogers will be bumped from the starting five due to the fact that he has a 7.00 ERA in four spring starts. He's been diagnosed with arm fatigue and could possibly start the season on the DL.
