Kevin Payne and 'After School All-Stars' are Fighting the Country's Crime

Kevin is one of many prominent professional athletes who are participating in the "After School All-Stars" (ASAS) program. Its goal is to encourage kids to become involved in positive after school activities in an effort to decrease the likelihood that they'll run into any unfortunate opportunities to become involved in drugs, gangs, etc. on their neighborhood streets.
In Chicago - Kevin and the Bears' backyard - there are many areas of the city where some really disgusting acts of violence are going down. CNN calls these areas "Chicago's Deadly Streets," and there are a lot of innocent kids out there who are coming home from band practice, choir practice, etc. and getting shot at for no reason at all. Lately, there have been so many wasteful deaths occurring that a national level of interest towards the issue is finally starting to fire up.
Kevin couldn't be prouder of his opportunity to be involved in an initiative whose goal is to keep kids away from these awful dangers that have infected so many of our country's cities. Not only is Kevin doing everything he can to make the program a success, but other notables such as Shaun Phillips, Kobe Bryant, California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc. are involved.
All in all, this really is a neat, neat foundation and program for kids, and Kevin's beyond excited to be a part of it.
Oh, and don't forget... tonight, at 8:15PM CST, Kevin is going to appear on "Todd Wright Tonight," a radio show on the The Sporting News' Radio Network, to discuss the "After School All-Stars" program and his involvement with it. I suggest you give it a listen. But if you can't, I'll do what I can to post his appearance here on LockerBlogger sometime in the next couple days, along with info on another cool ASAS program he's involved with called "Touchdown Shutdown."
