The Auburn basketball team is coming off a tough loss as the Kentucky Wildcats came to Neville Arena and took down the Tigers 70-59.

Auburn star forward Jaylin Williams went down with an injury in this game that looked worse than it ended up being. Williams will be back on the floor at some point this season but will miss a few games. Luckily, coming off the loss to Kentucky, the Auburn Tigers don't have a midweek game this week, which comes at a perfect time.

Playing an SEC basketball schedule is a true gauntlet, and these players need this time off badly. It will give the Auburn players time to get healthy and recollect themselves as they prepare to make a deep run in March. This Auburn team is excellent and can make history, as Coach Bruce Pearl always says.

Coach Pearl had this to say about the loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, "Kentucky can guard, and they can turn it up when they want to," Pearl said. "They outplayed us tonight; they played really well. We knew their guards were excellent, and late in the game, when it came down to getting decent shots and keeping us at bay, they were able to do that."

Auburn has five games left on the schedule, with only one of them being hard to win, which is the matchup with Tennessee in Knoxville. It will be a tough ask for this team to win that basketball game, with Williams likely not in the lineup. While the loss to Kentucky hurt, Auburn got lucky with Williams's injury, and the Tigers will look to make a strong push as the SEC and NCAA Tournaments quickly approach.
