Kentucky Wildcats Head Coach John Calipari Praises Anthony Davis For $350,000 Donation To Flood Relief Program

Anthony Davis came into the NBA as one of the most daunting college prospects the league had seen in a while. Davis dominated with the Kentucky Wildcats and led the team to an NCAA Championship with his sensational play on both sides of the ball. Davis out-blocked some of the best teams playing D1 basketball single-handedly, such was his level of dominance.

Davis has always been extremely respectful to his coach at Kentucky, the infamous John Calipari. Calipari is one of the most recognizable NCAA coaches but has only won 1 NCAA title as a coach. That title came in 2012 when AD was a force that the NCAA hadn't seen in a while.

Recently, the Kentucky area has been struggling with floods, and many fundraising initiatives have been started to help the citizens in the area. Coach Calipari revealed that Anthony Davis offered a $350,000 donation to the Kentucky Flood Relief despite Calipari not reaching out because of a donation former Wildcats made earlier this year.

Davis's charitable gesture is extremely commendable, and Coach Calipari clearly showed his appreciation to his former star center for taking this step. Considering the amount of money NBA players earn, especially at the level AD is at, this is what they should do to give back to the college communities that shaped them into NBA players.

Coach Calipari is known to focus on preparing his players for the NBA and often discourages players from staying in college for longer than they need to because of their earning potential in the league.

The University of Kentucky has produced the most NBA players in the league right now with 30 players, ahead of the iconic Duke Blue Devils that had the #1 overall pick this year in Paolo Banchero. Duke has produced 26 players currently in the NBA.
