USA TODAY Sports

The Big 12 men's basketball tournament is officially underway. The first game of the tournament saw UCF pull away from Oklahoma State in the second half to advance to the second round. The Knights will face 5-seed BYU on Wednesday morning. The winner of BYU-UCF will advance to play 4-seed Texas Tech. Below is the updated Big 12 men's tournament bracket.

The second game of the day features West Virginia and Cincinnati. The winner of that game will advance to play 6-seed Kansas on Wednesday. Kansas will be without leading scorer Kevin McCullar and star big man Hunter Dickinson in the Big 12 tournament. McCullar has been dealing with an injury over the last month and Dickson left the game against Houston last Saturday with a dislocated shoulder.

BYU's game against UCF is a quad two game and an opportunity for BYU to boost its NCAA Tournament resume. As of Tuesday morning, BYU was on the cusp of a 4-seed. BYU went 2-0 against the Knights during the regular season including a wild 90-88 win in Provo. Beating a team three times in the same season is never an easy task, but that's exactly what BYU will have to do to advance to the quarterfinals.

No. 1 Houston locked up the top seed in the Big 12 tournament on Saturday with a dominant win over no. 14 Kansas. Houston will take on the winner of Oklahoma-TCU in the quarterfinals.

4-seed Texas Tech ended the regular season on a high note. The Red Raiders go into the tournament on a three-game winning streak. All three wins were by double digits. BYU and Texas Tech faced each other early in the conference schedule. BYU took a 17-point lead into the halftime locker room, then Texas Tech stormed back for the 85-78 win.
