Watch: Kevin Durant asks fan for March Madness score mid game

Kevin Durant loves his alma mater.

During his Suns' 131-106 win over the Spurs on Saturday, Durant couldn't help but worry about his Texas Longhorns' second-round NCAA tournament match-up against the Tennessee Volunteers.

As seen below, Durant was told by a fan that his alma mater was down 10 at the half against Tennessee. The "Slim Reaper" didn't look thrilled when told the score.

To the Longhorns' credit, they rallied back from the deficit and were within striking distance when Tyrese Hunter hit a three with 8.8 seconds left, making it a two-point game in favor of Tennessee. The Longhorns would lose the game 62-58, failing to advance to the Sweet 16 a year after making the regional final.

While Durant couldn't watch his Longhorns keep their tourney hopes alive, he pulled up in Austin, Texas Sunday to watch the Texas women battle Alabama in a second-round game. Texas ended up winning the game 65-54 to advance to the Sweet 16.

With just 11 games left in their season, Durant's Suns have been on a roll of late, winning three in a row and seven of their last 10. The late-season momentum could help Phoenix stave off going through the play-in tournament against difficult oppositions such as the Mavericks, Kings, Lakers or Warriors.

The Suns (42-29) are currently in a grueling seeding battle with the Kings (41-29) and Mavs (41-29), and can therefore ill-afford to drop below those teams due to their tiebreaker situation. The Suns lost 2-1 to the Mavs and are tied 2-2 with the Kings in their regular season series. With the three teams seemingly tied to the hip, the final seedings could come down to the tiebreakers.
