Auburn football is starting to come back to relevance after hiring Hugh Freeze last year, and they can take over the state as the best team.
For over a decade, Alabama has reigned supreme in the state and the country. However, with the retirement of their legendary head coach, Nick Saban, a new era might be on the horizon, with the Tigers potentially seizing the opportunity to claim the title of Alabama’s best team.
The Tigers still have a lot of work to do to get to that point, but they don’t have to go up against the best coach in college football anymore, on or off the field. On Wednesday, the Tigers also landed one of the best recruits in the state.
Christian Clemente from 247sports.com said, “Offensive tackle Carde Smith committed to Aubrun over Mississippi State and Florida State.
BREAKING: Top247 OT Carde Smith has committed to Auburn over Miss State and FSU.
“I grew up an Auburn fan. My mom fell in love with Auburn. I fell in love with Auburn. My coach went to Auburn… It just felt like home.”

Smith is a four-star recruit and is the 23rd-ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 class per 247sports.com.
The Tigers now have the chance to be the best team in Alabama, but they are a real threat to Georgia, one of the best teams in the SEC.
The SEC will expand in 2024, with Texas and Oklahoma joining. Texas just played in the College Football Playoff last season, and they will be great again this season, so it will be a tough test to go up against them for the rest of the SEC for this upcoming season and many years to come.
Auburn has to ensure it can compete with the teams already in the SEC and those coming in, and I think it is heading that way.
