The Alabama football team opened its fall camp on August 2 to kick off the new season. Crimson Tide redshirt junior punter James Burnip opted for a special meal on the first weekend of camp to celebrate the start of his third season in Tuscaloosa. The Australian punter chose an American classic, Outback Steakhouse.

The Australian inspired chain began in Tampa, Florida in 1988 and now has over 1,000 locations across 23 countries, but Burnip admitted on his social media that he had never tried the famous steakhouse.

"I had the Bloomin' Onion to start. It was pretty good, pretty solid. That's what I've heard a lot since I've gotten here is, you've got to try the Bloomin' Onion," said Burnip to the media on Thursday. "Then I had pasta with steak and shrimp, I think. It was pretty solid. It was a good feed, something different. I'll give it a solid 7.5, 8 out of 10."

While Burnip's review was largely positive, he did note that one of the major differences coming to Alabama from Australia was the general kindness and respect in the South and the way Americans prepare food.

"I think everyone here's a lot more nicer here, honestly," said Burnip. "....You guys cook your food a lot different here. You like to have it all fried, so that as well is a lot different."
