Fran Brown already turning the tide for Syracuse as Orange flip four-star receiver

Fran Brown was seen as a tremendous hire for the Syracuse Orange and his presence in upper New York has already paid massive dividends.

Known as one of the best recruiters in college football – if not the best – Brown has flipped four-star wide receiver Emanuel Ross after an official visit this past weekend. Ross, from Red Bank, New Jersey (Red Bank Catholic), had been committed to Stanford since the early summer of 2023.

Previously the defensive backs coach at Georgia where he was a member of the Bulldogs' 2022 College Football Playoff national championship staff, Brown had developed a connection with Ross while he was in Athens.

“Coach Fran was in communication with me when he was at Georgia, so we already had a relationship,” Ross told On3. “As soon as he got the job, we talked more, then I spent time with him on the visit and I knew he was the kind of coach I wanted to play for.

“I got a feel for the school, I learned about the real estate program at Syracuse and Coach Fran is already shifting the culture there. The city is buying in, the players have clicked with Coach Fran and I left the visit feeling good about Syracuse.”

Brown played a vital role for UGA on the recruiting trail, credited with being the lead recruiter for five-star Georgia commits Ellis Robinson IV and Justin Williams.

His magic apparently crosses state lines, as Ross is a massive flip for the Orange. The wideout is the second-highest ranked recruit in Syracuse's class behind four-star tight end Jamie Tremble and the consensus No. 50 receiver in the 2024 class. He also represents a big regional win for Brown and Syracuse, as he's considered the No. 5 recruit out of the state of New Jersey.

“I like Coach Fran and his style. He already has had a great taste of winning at Georgia, he is a winner and I truly believe he can create a winning culture at Syracuse," Ross said.
