Wisconsin transfer Jack Coan has been named Notre Dame's starting quarterback for the 2021 season, head coach Brian Kelly announced Saturday.

Coan entered the transfer portal in December 2020 after throwing for 3,278 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions in his three-year career with Wisconsin.
The 22-year-old replaces Ian Book, who was drafted by the New Orleans Saints after finishing his Fighting Irish career second-most all-time in passing yards for the program. In four seasons in South Bend, Book threw for 8,948 yards and 72 touchdowns against 20 interceptions.
Notre Dame finished 10-2 last season playing in the ACC.
