Texas QB Arch Manning's trading card auctions off for more than Luka Doncic's

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning may be a star one day. He's the nephew of Peyton Manning and Eli Manning and the grandson of Archie Manning.

That's a star pedigree, and we know without a doubt that the recruiting services feel he can be great. According to the 247Sports Composite, he was ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class.

That's the reason Texas fans are excited about him. That's also likely the reason his first trading card — which was part of a NIL deal with Panini America — was auctioned off for more than $100,000.

According to the Panini website, the card, which was a one-of-one Prizm black autographed card, sold for $102,500. Per On3, Manning's card is the highest-selling in Panini website history, beating out Luka Doncic's one-of-one. That sold for $100,000.

The beautiful thing about this sale is that even though it was a part of Manning's very first NIL deal, he isn't profiting off any of the money. In fact, 100 percent of the proceeds are going to St. David's Healthcare and St. David's Foundation, a nonprofit. The winner of the auction is also going to have an opportunity to meet Manning, have a catch session with him and be a part of the check presentation.

Although this card was a one-of-one, moving forward, the NIL deal between the young Manning and Panini will see many trading cards developed that will feature exclusive autographs. The former five-star will also be in on the development of the cards.

For all this hype, it is worth noting that Manning, a freshman at Texas, isn't expected to play much in 2023. He's behind sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers on the depth chart. Ewers was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class and played in and started 10 games for Texas last season.
