North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is already a star to fans of the Tar Heels, but if he continues making plays such as the one he made against Miami (FL), he'll soon be a name all college football fans know.

Late in the second quarter, Maye had North Carolina (4-1, 1-0) deep in Miami territory. As he got hit on a second-and-10 throw from the 15-yard line, Maye somehow completed a pass to wide receiver Josh Downs, who ran back to make the catch and was able to turn up-field to score a touchdown.
"That was Mahomes-esque," said play-by-play analyst Dave Pasch. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, of course, has made several highlights over the years by making completions out of throws that no one else would think to make.
Maye's throw on Saturday certainly qualifies in that same category.
Prior to Saturday's game, Maye had thrown for 1,594 yards and 19 touchdowns with just one interception through North Carolina's first five games. His QBR of 90.6 is the third-best in the nation.
