Blake Shelton on marrying Gwen Stefani: 'That's the ultimate bragging rights'

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been married for three months, after tying the knot at Shelton's Oklahoman ranch in a specially built chapel on July 3.

The OG Voice coach stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to dish on the ceremony. Of course, it wouldn't be a Blake Shelton story without a heavy dose of sarcasm.

"Gwen and I, we agree that if we're going to pull off the ultimate publicity stunt, which is what this relationship is, then we wanted to follow through, man, and go ahead and get married because the next season of The Voice was coming up," the 45-year-old country music star jested. "We're team players for NBC."

Jokes aside, Shelton did dish some sentimental details from his special day, about how he came to write a song to sing for Stefani as his vows to her:

"It was Carson's [Daly] idea that we should our own vows or whatever—have this piece to say before we say, 'I do.' Gwen is always—she is constantly on my -ss about I should be writing more songs. 'How come you don't write more songs?' And I have gotten lazy about it over the years. And so, I decided, well, you know, I'll step up and come up with something, and so I did."

Daly officiated the wedding. He had gotten to know the couple as the host of The Voice, where they met, and previously revealed that moment in July:

Daly said then that Stefani began by reading her vows, which led to "not a dry eye in the church," before Shelton brought out a guitar and stool to sing a song titled "Reach the Star."

Shelton told Meyers that the song will be included on the deluxe version of his current album Body Language.

"I'm excited for people to hear it," he continued. "A lot of people ask me about it since they found out that I did that, and so we're excited about it. I want people to hear it. I mean, my god, I married Gwen Stefani! I want everybody to hear that. I mean, that's the ultimate bragging rights."

Body Language arrived in May, and the deluxe version is due in December.

The Voice airs every Monday and Tuesday beginning at 8 p.m. on NBC.
