Chris Pratt confirms when 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' will start filming

It has been over four years since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 entered the world, but fans won't have to wait much longer to dive into Vol. 3.

Chris Pratt, the franchise's leading man as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, confirmed to Variety that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will start filming at some point later this year while at the premiere for The Tomorrow War on Thursday (July 1).

Out today (July 2) via Amazon Prime Video, The Tomorrow War takes place in the present and the year 2051. Aliens are waging a deadly war against mankind in the future, and Dan Forester (Pratt) is among those recruited to save the world. The 42-year-old actor joked that he envisions he will "probably be on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy 71" by the time 2051 actually rolls around.

Guardians of the Galaxy debuted in 2014, the year that marked Pratt's jump from quirky character actor on Parks and Recreation—Andy Dwyer forever—to blockbuster film star. Now, he is the leading man in two mega franchises: Guardians and Jurassic World.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy movies have been directed by James Gunn, and all Pratt would divulge about No. 3 was that "James Gunn is back."

Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled for a June 10, 2022, release (h/t Entertainment Weekly).

Slightly before then, Pratt can be seen as Quill in Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi, when the fourth installment in the Thor saga arrives next May.
