Daniel Craig gives very blunt advice for the next James Bond

No decisions have been made—at least, not publicly—about who will next embody James Bond, but Daniel Craig has a very simple guideline for that person when the day comes.

"Don't be s—t," Craig told BBC Radio 1's Ali Plumb, before launching into a more reflective response:

"I just wanted to make sure I left it in as good a place as I found it. That's all I kind of cared about, and I think that anybody who takes it on will feel the same way because it matters, and it's a huge part of cinema history. And it's a huge part of British cinema history, which is sort of like a massive thing. The importance of it for the fans and for everybody involved is to make the best movies we can, and I think that's what I've certainly tried to do, and I know that all the people I've worked with have tried to do."

A clip began circulating last week of Craig emotionally bidding farewell to the iconic role and everybody with whom he has worked during his 007 tenure after they wrapped filming on No Time To Die

There is also an entire retrospective available to stream on Apple TV Plus titled Being James Bond that captures Craig reflecting on his time as Bond. The 53-year-old actor took over for Pierce Brosnan beginning with Casino Royale (2006) and continuing with Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and finally, No Time To Die.

NTTD will hit U.S. theaters Oct. 8. Watch a trailer, as well as Craig's full interview with Plumb, below.
