Dave Chappelle outs celebrities for leaving 'dirty notes' at White House

Then-White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham claimed in November 2019 that former president Barack Obama's aides had left notes saying "you will fail" and "you aren't going to make it" for the incoming Trump administration (h/t NBC News).

The claim was immediately refuted:

And for good reason, as Dave Chappelle confirmed the real origin of those notes was much less sinister.

"This was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen," the iconic 47-year-old comedian said on this week's episode of Naomi Campbell's No Filter YouTube series. "This was, like, one of the last big parties the Obamas threw, and I’m not gonna say these celebrities’ names. There was a thing—remember, when the Trump administration moved in, they said, 'The Obama staff left dirty notes for us in all the drawers and all the cabinets!' Now, I saw this happening and I’m not gonna say who did it but it was celebrities writing all this crazy s—t and putting them all over there. And I saw them doing this. When I saw that on the news, I laughed real hard."

Campbell and Chappelle discussed in more detail their experiences at the parties thrown at the White House by the Obama administration, including a time No. 44 dabbed while entering a room.
