Elizabeth Mitchell joins Tim Allen in Disney Plus 'Santa Clause' series

Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause are still going strong.

Per Variety, Elizabeth Mitchell will reprise her role of Carol Calvin/Mrs. Clause opposite Tim Allen's Scott Calvin/Santa Clause for the forthcoming The Santa Clause limited original series coming to Disney Plus.

Disney Plus revealed the project Jan. 14:

Allen first starred as Scott/Santa in 1994's The Santa Clause. Mitchell debuted as Carol in The Santa Clause 2 in 2002. Scott learned that a stipulation to remaining Santa was to find a Mrs. Clause, and he married Carol—school principal to his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd)—by the end of the movie. In The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), Santa and Mrs. Clause had to grapple with Jack Frost (Martin Short).

"In the series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever," Variety relayed earlier this month of the new plot for the series. "He's starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he's got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole."

The series will have Jack Burditt as executive producer and showrunner. Burditt previously created the TV comedy Last Man Standing, which Allen fronted.
