Emma Watson's manager slams retirement rumors

The Daily Mail cast the befuddling Confundus Charm around Emma Watson's acting career over the weekend, but the record was set straight Thursday afternoon.

Originally, The Daily Mail's Charlotte Griffiths wrote that Watson "has decided to step back from the limelight" in order to focus more on her relationship with her partner, Leo Robinton. An unnamed source added: "Emma has gone underground, she is settling down with Leo. They're laying low. Maybe she wants a family."

Watson's manager, Jason Weinberg swiftly debunked that notion in an exclusive statement to Entertainment Weekly: "Emma's social media accounts are dormant but her career isn't."

The 30-year-old's latest acting credit came as Meg March in 2019's Oscar-winning Little Women remakeIn it, Watson appeared alongside a star-studded cast including Saoirse Ronan, Laura Dern and Timothee Chalamet.

Prior to that, in 2017, Watson starred as Belle in Bill Condon's live-action Beauty and the Beast

Of course, Watson achieved legendary status for portraying Hermione Granger throughout the Harry Potter eight-film franchise. "I was nine," Watson said of when her iconic run began during a 2017 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "No one goes to the first audition they've ever been to in their entire life, and then makes those movies for over a decade. That doesn't happen to people."

Away from the screen, Watson has made sure to utilize her global platform as an activist and fashion influencer.
