Kim Kardashian reflects on 'KUWTK': 'We didn't really expect it to go on this long'

The 20th and final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians  kicks off Thursday on E!, so Kim Kardashian sat down with Vogue to reflect on the game-changing reality series.

"It's really crazy to look back and just to think 20 seasons," Kardashian said. "That's a long time. Just because we didn't really expect it to go on this long. We just were having fun, and we genuinely love filming together as a family."

As for calling it quits, the 40-year-old mogul said it was ultimately unanimous—but the pop culture icons went "back and forth" on what to do until the decision's deadline.

"I remember it was on a weekend, and we had until the Monday to decide," she said. "So on the Friday, we were like, 'OK, we're gonna do this. We're done.' And then we went back and Saturday we all called each other and was like, 'Are we making the right decision? Are you sure we should do this?' We just kept on going back and forth on that."

Kardashian continued: "We all really love doing this, and we love our crew so much, that I think that was such a huge decision for us. Because we loved seeing them and working with them. They've been in our lives from Season 1. It was an emotional decision, but we all felt like it was the right decision."

KUWTK debuted in October 2007 and has followed the family through countless evolutions, as have its numerous spinoffs:

Ryan Seacrest and Eliot Goldberg served as executive producers on the show, and its ending was announced prior Season 19's premiere in September. Seacrest told Entertainment Tonight at that time the another spinoff from the series was a bridge that everyone involved had "not crossed," but he didn't shut the door on the possibility.

The full 17-minute Vogue interview, available below, also covers whether Kardashian—who is busy with two more years left of law school—rewatches the series, what she appreciates most about the 14-year run, her role in the rise of social media, and more.
