Lawsuits filed against Travis Scott and Live Nation for 'serious bodily injuries' suffered at Astroworld

Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival claimed the lives of eight people and many more injured on Friday night at Houston's NRG Park, and lawsuits are beginning to be filed as a result.

"A concertgoer who was injured during the festival is suing rapper and producer Travis Scott, who was the organizer of the Astroworld Festival, as well as entertainment company Live Nation, concert promoter Scoremore and others involved in the event," CNN relayed Monday. "Manuel Souza, who is being represented by the law firm Kherkher Garcia, 'suffered serious bodily injuries when the uncontrolled crowd at the concert knocked him to the ground and trampled him,' according to the lawsuit filed in Harris County, Texas."

CNN noted that Souza seeks "monetary relief of over $1 million," but prefers for the case to go to trial.

USA Today separately reported that civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump has filed a suit on behalf of 21-year-old Noah Gutierrez "and expects to file on behalf of others soon."

According to Billboard, "at least 14 lawsuits" had been filed as of Monday afternoon with the expectation to grow into "a massive case."

The eight victims publicly known at this time to have died are Axel Acosta, 21, Danish Baig, 27, Madison Dubiski, 23, John Hilgert, 14, Jacob E. Jurinek, 20, Franco Patino, 21,  Rudy Peña, 23, and Brianna Rodriguez, 16.

The second day of Astroworld's two-day slate was canceled, and Scott, 30, addressed the tragedy Saturday morning:
