Variety has been on top of this project's every development—from the initial announcement as Lohan's return-to-acting role to Overstreet's casting last week.
According to the outlet, the logline positions the movie's premise as Lohan playing "a newly engaged spoiled hotel heiress, who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas." Overstreet plays the blue-collar lodge owner.
Lohan became a universally known child and teen star in The Parent Trap (1998), Freaky Friday (2003) and Mean Girls (2004) before retreating from the spotlight. However, she did appear in a guest role on British comedy series Sick Note in 2018, and starred in MTV reality series Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club for one season in 2019.
