The 5 biggest name drops on Drake's 'Scary Hours 2' EP

Drake's lyrics have been examined under an electron microscope for over a decade, and Scary Hours 2 offers an abundance of new material to comb through.

The three-track EP arrived at midnight Friday—as did a Theo Skudra-directed "What's Next" visual"—and the internet was ablaze because bedtime doesn't exist when new Drake is on the way. While the 34-year-old Canadian legend still hasn't signaled a new release date for his delayed sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy, Scary Hours 2 will at least help tide OVO Nation over.

If we were to nitpick every line from "What's Next," "Wants and Needs" featuring Lil Baby and "Lemon Pepper Freestyle" featuring Rick Ross, we may still be knee-deep by the time CLB actually gets here. So, we've narrowed the playing field to the five biggest names dropped by Drizzy, a 6 God in his own right.

Vigril Abloh

"Yeah, I got one, Virgil got one and that there is the only two" —"What's Next"

Virgil Abloh solidified his legacy as a seminal streetwear designer when he founded Off-White in 2012, and he elevated to another stratosphere when he was named the men's artistic director for Louis Vuitton. Here, Drake is referencing Off-White's collaboration with luxury watch brand Patek Philippe from 2019. He and Abloh own the only two green Nautilus pieces.

Lil Wayne

"Weezy handed it off, I still got no fumbles / I'm on the hot one hundo, numero uno" — "What's Next"

Lil Wayne famously signed a then-relatively anonymous Drake to Young Money Records in 2009. And here, Aubrey Drake Graham is not lying. Since the Weezy co-sign, he has gone on to become the most-streamed artist in Spotify history, and he notched several No. 1 smashes across multiple Billboard charts. Under this metaphor, that probably qualifies as a touchdown—or, more accurately, Alvin Kamara running in an NFL-record six touchdowns in a single game last December.

Kanye West

"YEAH, I PROBABLY SHOULD GO LINK WITH yEEZY. I NEED ME SOME JESUS / BUT SOON AS I STARTED CONFESSIN' MY SINS, HE WOULDN'T BELIEVE US" - "WANTS AND NEEDS"

Drake and Kanye West have had a, um, rocky relationship, but all is fair in rap and verses. Before referencing Kanye, Drake says, "I probably should go to Yeshiva, we went to Ibiza." Yeshiva is Hebrew for school, and the four-time Grammy winner attended a Jewish day school growing up. West, meanwhile, is a staunch Christian who took worshipping to an unprecedented level in 2019 with his weekly Sunday Service events.

DMX

"DEPOSIT THE MONEY TO BRENDA, LATISHA, OR LEND TO FELICIA" — "WANTS AND NEEDS"

This nod one is slick, even for Drake. Brenda, LaTisha and Felicia were names used in DMX's 2000 single "What These B—s Want" featuring Sisqo.

Patrick Mahomes

"Patty Mahomes 'bout too fall short a couple hunnid" — "Lemon Pepper Freestyle"

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has mowed through the NFL record books in his first three seasons as a starter. He led the Chiefs to their first championship in 50 years and became the youngest Super Bowl at 24 years old in 2020, but the All-Pro fell short of back-to-back titles when Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed Kansas City 31-9 in February's Super Bowl LV.

Even though Mahomes is still a $500 million man and the leading face of the football's next generation, Drake made sure the 25-year-old knew he's still not on OVO's level. Mahomes appreciated the playful shoutout:
