The ultimate Lionel Richie playlist

Back in the 1970s, soul singer Lionel Richie made a name for himself as the lead vocalist of funk group the Commodores. For several years, the band saw major success with dance tracks like "Brick House" and ballads like "Three Times A Lady" that helped shape the funk era. However, after Richie saw success with songwriting and production for other artists, he eventually decided to take his career solo.

Once Richie released his self-titled debut album in 1982, he proved that he could still be successful with his traditional ballad formula and elevate his sound with newer genres. With songs made perfectly for anniversaries and celebrations, Richie has a discography that could be played for a number of special occasions. In honor of the singer turning 70 on June 20 and celebrating 45 years in the music industry, here is our 15-song ultimate Lionel Richie playlist.
