Thomas Rhett talks 'embracing the dad life'

Thomas Rhett is in Texas preparing to play his first shows in a year and a half, and while he's excited, he can't stop missing his three daughters.

At least that's the picture the 31-year-old country star painted while visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (May 5). DeGeneres put up photos of the Rhetts on the screen, and it garnered a reaction from the patriarch.

"All three of my babies are just—they're the light of my world," Rhett said via Zoom. "Looking at these pictures is about to make me cry. I miss them already."

Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, welcomed a third daughter named Lennon in February 2020:

Previously, the power couple previously welcomed Ada James in August 2017 shortly after adopting Willa Gray from Uganda that May.

With DeGeneres, Rhett admitted to fully embracing the girl dad life: "I'm wearing a polo at 4:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. I've got—where's this thing at? This [holding up a stuffed unicorn] is, like, sitting on my desk. I had to move it out of the way. I mean, my bus is just filled with nothing but kid toys. My shorts are getting shorter. I'm taking a camera everywhere I go—a big camera—trying to capture all these moments. Embracing the dad life."

Friday (April 30), the four-time Grammy nominee dropped his Country Again (Side A) album. Rhett will tour to support the 11-track project beginning Aug. 13 at The Wharf Ampitheatre in Orange Beach, Alabama, with Gabby Barrett and Cole Swindell opening.

The Georgia native has five dates this month in Fort Worth, Texas—beginning tomorrow (May 6)—and his full tour schedule can be viewed on his official website.
