Watch: 'Saved by the Bell' revival honors Dustin Diamond in Season 2 premiere

Mario Lopez teased in May that Peacock's Saved by the Bell revival series was "planning something special" to tribute the late Dustin Diamond in the second season.

Season 2 hit Peacock on Wednesday (Nov. 24), and the second season premiere featured that tribute to Diamond:

Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley), Slater (Lopez), Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen) and Lisa (Lark Voorhies) gather at The Max and eat "Screech's Spaghetti Burger" to remember Screech (Diamond). Footage then rolls from the original Saved by the Bell series. It's implied that Screech has died, though is never explicitly said.

Diamond died in February from small-cell carcinoma, which he was diagnosed with in January. He was 44 years old.

Diamond portrayed Samuel "Screech" Powers for the duration of Saved by the Bell's run from 1989-92 as well as in Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993-94) and Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1994-2000). The actor struggled afterward, though, and strained his relationship with his former costars by publishing a tell-all book in 2009.

Diamond acknowledged that in an interview with Lopez on Extra in 2016:

Peacock's revival series debuted its first season last November.

In this newly released second season, Bayside High is trying to defeat Valley in the Southern California School Spirit Competition. Meanwhile, Zack's son, Mac (Mitchell Hoog) is trying to get away from his dad's legacy. (Zack is now the governor of California, married to Kelly.) Plus, there is romantic tension between exes Jessie and Slater after her divorce. Watch the trailer below.
