The 2023 MLB All-Star Game rosters were announced, with the Atlanta Braves leading the way by having eight players named to the National League team. The Texas Rangers checked in behind them with six players on the American League roster.

Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. was the leading vote-getter in the NL through Phase 1, which guaranteed him a starting spot. Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani paced AL players in the first phase of voting.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have five All-Stars, including starters in Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and J.D. Martinez. Betts additionally is participating in the Home Run Derby at T-Mobile Park.

Betts earned a seventh All-Star Game selection in his career, third with the Dodgers and fourth overall start.

Freeman is only the third Dodgers first baseman to start in an All-Star Game, joining Steve Garvey and Gil Hodges. Garvey reached via fan voting from 1974-1980.

Martinez is the second Dodgers player to start an All-Star Game at designated hitter. Although when Max Muncy did so in 2021, fans did not yet vote for that position on the NL team.

The Dodgers’ three position players starting in an All-Star Game is their most since having four in 1980.

Clayton Kershaw tied a Dodgers franchise record in earning a 10th career All-Star selection. Brooklyn legend Pee Wee Reese previously held the record to himself. Will Smith is making his first appearance in a Midsummer Classic.

Despite being the All-Star Game host team, the Seattle Mariners only had Luis Castillo named to the AL roster. Julio Rodríguez is due to participate in the Home Run Derby.

The full 2023 MLB All-Star Game rosters feature 26 first-timers, including 15 from the NL.

There are also 25 internationally born players named to the All-Star Game this year, with 15 on the AL roster and 10 on the NL team. They represent Cuba (eight All-Stars), the Dominican Republic (seven), Venezuela (five), Curaçao (two), and Japan, Canada and Puerto Rico (one each).

The 2023 MLB All-Star Game at T-Mobile Park is on Tuesday, July 11, airing exclusively on Fox at 5 p.m. PT.
