Baltimore Orioles’ new ownership group buys beer for every fan in local pub to celebrate Opening Day
Scott Taetsch-USA TODAY Sports

The new owners of the Baltimore Orioles made a great first impression with the fans. The team released a video of the ownership group with fans at Pickles Pub which is right outside Oriole Park. One of the owners, Mike Arougheti, got behind the bar and announced the group was buying beers for everyone.

“We’re buying everybody a beer!” Arougheti said in the video. “This one’s on us.”

This happened right before the Orioles took on the Los Angeles Angels in their season opener on Thursday. The MLB approved the sale of the team to a group led by private equity billionaire David Rubenstein. The ownership group also includes NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill and Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr.

“I congratulate David Rubenstein on receiving approval from the Major League Clubs as the new control person of the Orioles,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said, per MLB.com. “As a Baltimore native and a lifelong fan of the team, David is uniquely suited to lead the Orioles moving forward. We welcome David and his partners as the new stewards of the franchise.”

Rubenstein is ready to lead the Orioles to a new era. “To own the Orioles is a great civic duty,” he said. “On behalf of my fellow owners, I want the Baltimore community and Orioles fans everywhere to know that we will work our hardest to deliver for you with professionalism, integrity, excellence, and a fierce desire to win games.

Baltimore Orioles looking to make a World Series run

The Orioles have the World Series on their minds after having a strong 2023 season, finishing the year with 101 wins and claiming the AL East. It’s the first time since 1980 the Orioles have won more than 100 games.

If there’s one Orioles player to watch, it would have to be pitcher Corbin Burnes who joins the team after spending the last six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. In his career Burnes has been named to the All-Star team three times, led the National League in strikeouts in 2022 and won the CY Young award in 2021.
