Brett Phillips Believes He Can Do Anything to Help Angels Win
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels had a number of pleasant surprises in their 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. They were looking for any form of life after a disappointing loss just the day before and were able to find it thanks to numerous players.

Griffin Canning was the most obvious one as he returned from a two-year hiatus after finally recovering from a slew of injuries and he was very solid at the pitching mound only allowing two runs.

However, Brett Phillips also shined in their big victory and he came into the game 0-34 against lefty pitchers. He finally broke that curse and was able to record an RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases.

He also made some huge catches in the outfield en route to the win.

The 28-year-old spoke to Bally Sports West's Erica Weston and revealed that he stays confident in his abilities no matter what and believes he can fit any role the Angels need him to in order to win.

"For me being a fourth outfielder, it's making sure that when I'm playing, this team doesn't skip a beat," said Phillips. "Wherever I can be of assistance each and every night when Im called, that's all I'm trying to do."

"That's why I'm part of this team, I can play good defense. I can base run obviously, get this going."

It's amazing to see these types of success stories happening early into LA's 2023 season and more of those will go a long way as the Halos look for a playoff berth.
