Brewers' lack of offense a part of insane stat last seen in 1991
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Julio Teheran (49) Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

MLB News: The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the New York Mets on Tuesday night by a score of 7-2.  Julio Teheran was on the mound for the Brew Crew in which for the first time this year he had a blow up outing.  He was tagged with seven earned runs and gave up four home runs including two by Brandon Nimmo.

In Teheran’s six outings prior he was excellent.  He carried a 1.53 ERA entering the night.  Despite this the Brewers were just 2-4 in games where he started on the mound and that record moved to 2-5 after they lost to the Mets.

One reason why Milwaukee is not winning games when Julio Teheran is on the hill is because of lack of run support.  He has received so little help from his offense that it actually is the least amount in a player’s first seven starts with a new team since 1991.

MLB News: Milwaukee Brewers lack of offense when Julio Teheran is on the mound is a part of an insane stat last seen in 1991.

Through seven starts with the Brew Crew the offense has provided Julio Teheran with 13 total runs of support.  Per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel no pitcher has received fewer offensive help in his first seven starts with a new team since 1991.

Some of the games that the Brewers have lost with Teheran on the mound have been a shame.  They lost a game against the Reds on June 5 where he allowed just two earned runs over 6.1 innings pitched.  The Oakland Athletics defeated Milwaukee a start later when he tossed seven innings of one earned run ball.

Hopefully the offense can pick up the slack in his next start.  For not pitching in the big leagues since 2021 Julio Teheran has been a nice addition to the starting rotation, so the goal is that the Brewers can start capitalizing on his impressive performances.
