Cardinals set record with five Gold Glove winners

The St. Louis Cardinals made history over the weekend as five players on their roster received Gold Glove honors for the 2021 season.

It's Arenado's ninth Gold Glove and Goldschmidt's fourth, but their firsts as a member of the Cardinals organization. It's O'Neill's second in a row.

The honors are a nice bookend to the Cardinals' season, which ended with a Wild Card loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Oct. 6.

It's also a nice note to hit as an offseason of uncertainty gets into full swing. St. Louis was already tasked with figuring out whether Adam Wainwright will pitch one more season before retiring. The future becomes even more uncertain with a league work stoppage almost certain to get underway.

Other notable Gold Glove winners include Atlanta Braves pitcher Max Fried and outfielder Adam Duvall, who are coming off the team's first World Series victory since 1995. The opposing Houston Astros have two Gold Glove winners on their World Series squad in Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel.

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford won his fourth Gold Glove and Chicago White Sox pitcher Dallas Kuechel won his fifth.
