Former Dodgers Fan Favorite Wants to be Future MLB Manager

Former Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman and future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols is back at camp. However, he's not there as a player, he's there as a guest instructor for the Los Angeles Angels. 

He's back around the game he loves, and he hopes to be around it a lot in the coming years. In a recent interview with reporters, Pujols shared his ambition to be an MLB manager in the future. 

“Yeah,” Pujols said when asked about being a future manager. “I think, why not? I think if the opportunity is right one day, I think I’ll be ready for that.”

The 44-year-old spent 22 years in the major leagues and put together an extraordinary career. He was an 11-time All-Atar, two-time World Series champion, three-time MVP, Rookie of the Year, and two-time Gold Glove award winner — the list of accolades just goes on and on. 

Now, he wants to embark on a new journey: Leaing his own major league baseball team. Pujols certainly wouldn't lack experience. 

He was recently named manager for Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League, which will be his first taste of managerial action. That will be a great start to putting together a career as a manager.

The former Dodger spent half a season with the Boys in Blue in 2021, where he slashed .254/.299/.460 with a .759 OPS, 12 home runs, 38 RBIs, and 48 hits in 189 at-bats and 85 games. His time in L.A. may have been short, but the memories he created in Los Angeles were second to none.
