Ian Happ Expresses Joy Over Latest Honor
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Happ was one of 10 players in the National League to earn a Gold Glove Award.

The Chicago Cubs super utility-man joined San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham and Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts as one of three outfielders to receive a Gold Glove Award.

Happ was the only member of the Cubs to receive such an award.

On Friday, Happ officially received his award and a video on Twitter courtesy of Rawlings Baseball, who sponsor the Gold Glove Awards, shows the moment when Happ got his Gold Glove.

In the video, Happ expressed what it meant to him to be a Gold Glove winner and was hardly able to contain his joy.

Happ Accepts His Gold Glove Award

The Rawlings Baseball patch is certainly something to be proud of, as Happ alluded to.

It’s something that can never be taken away from a player.

Happ, being able to play to so many positions on the field, certainly has put his solid glove to some good use.

This year, he was the recipient for National League left fielders.

He was certainly overjoyed and honored to receive a Gold Glove Award, and as he alluded to, it’s an honor that will be with him forever, as the patch will always be on every one of his gloves.

The Cubs had a disappointing season, finishing in third place in the NL Central with a 74-88 record, but Happ certainly provided some bright spots, with his elite defense being one of them.
