Mike Clevinger on Track to Return Saturday vs. Guardians
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

In a period of flux as MLB's trade deadline approaches, the Chicago White Sox will likely make a slew of transactions in the coming days to replenish the roster as players depart. One name that should reenter the mix soon is right-hander Mike Clevinger, who is on track to return from the injured list Saturday, per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Clevinger has been on the 15-day IL retroactive to June 15 with right biceps inflammation. The 32-year-old threw four-plus innings in a simulated game Monday, per Van Schouwen.

Clevinger posted a 3-4 record, 3.88 ERA, and 1.356 WHIP in 12 starts before going on the shelf.

His last appearance, which came on June 14 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, was one of his best outings of the season but was unfortunately cut short. The Florida native tossed 4.2 innings of scoreless ball with two walks and five strikeouts in that outing.

Clevinger figures to take the roster spot vacated by Lucas Giolito, who was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.
