MLB Insider Reveals 1 Team Looking At Trevor Rosenthal

Today, reliever Trevor Rosenthal is having a throwing showcase with several teams in attendance to see whether or not they want to take a chance on him.

Rosenthal burst onto the scene in 2012 with the St. Louis Cardinals and quickly became one of the most dominant relievers in the game, playing a key role in their run to the World Series in 2013 and being named to the National League All-Star squad in 2015.

Injuries and inconsistencies plagued him and ended his time with the Cards before he had brief stops with the Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers.

He got himself back on track in 2020 with the Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres before a hip injury cost him the entire 2021 season.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network notes that the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the teams in attendance for Rosenthal’s showcase.

The Blue Jays already have some solid names in their bullpen, with Adam Cimber, Yimi Garcia, and Jordan Romano just to name a few.

If Rosenthal is healthy and pitches the way he did in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, then he could become a viable part of the Blue Jays’ bullpen if they are the ones to bring him aboard.

They would have multiple guys who could fill the closer role, which leads to a pretty dominant bullpen.

Interestingly too, if the Blue Jays sign him, they will be hosting Rosenthal’s old team, the Cardinals, in late July.

More importantly though, Rosenthal would provide a boost for any team’s bullpen.

He has the potential to be one of the game’s best relievers if he is healthy.

No team would complain about having another viable option at the back end of their bullpen.
