New Toronto Blue Jay Joey Votto Goes Viral For Posting Baby Picture of Himself in Jays Clothing
USA TODAY Sports

Joey Votto had the internet "ooing" and "awing" on Sunday when he posted a baby picture of himself wearing Toronto Blue Jays gear.

After signing with the Jays on a minor league deal this week, Votto's life and career appear to have come full circle:

His bib in the photo read "I'm a little Blue Jay," and his current comment says on Instagram "minor league contract signed. It's official, I'm a little Blue Jay now."

While signing the deal, Votto said that he was a Blue Jays fan growing up in Canada so this opportunity means a lot to him. Votto has also represented Canada in the World Baseball Classic.

Given the nature of Votto's deal, it's no guarantee that he makes the team, but he's going to keep having fun every single step of the way. Because he's a few weeks behind schedule, Votto will likely begin the year in the minor leagues, and we'll see where it goes from there.

Toronto has Justin Turner penciled in as its everyday designated hitter so Votto will be battling for a left-handed bench role in all likelihood.

A lifetime .294 hitter, Votto is one of the more accomplished players of the last 20 years. He's got a .409 on-base percentage lifetime and has hit 356 career home runs. He also owns a pristine resume with six All-Star appearances, a Gold Glove and an MVP award.

He's led the league in on-base percentage in seven separate seasons. He spent 17 years with the Cincinnati Reds before moving on this offseason.
