The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are among the fiercest rivals in all of North American sports, but one of their matchups this summer is being overshadowed by quite the promotional giveaway.

The July 5 showdown between New York and Boston is doubling as Seinfeld Night at Yankee Stadium. To celebrate the occasion, the team is set to give away George Costanza bobbleheads.

Costanza worked for the Yankees from season five to season eight of "Seinfeld." He held the title of Assistant to the Traveling Secretary, which will be featured at the base of his bobblehead.

Eight-time Emmy Award nominee Jason Alexander portrayed Costanza while "Seinfeld" was on the air from 1989 to 1998.

Ironically, the Red Sox signed right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander to a minor league contract in February. He spent several years in the Los Angeles Angels and Miami Marlins' farm systems before making his MLB debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2022.

Boston's Alexander is not related to "Seinfeld"'s Alexander.

July 5 will mark the 35-year anniversary of "Seinfeld"'s premiere on NBC.

The Yankees and Red Sox will get their game started at 7:05 p.m. ET that night, and it isn't a stretch to assume there will be "Seinfeld"-themed pregame festivities prior to first pitch.

Both Alexander and Jerry Seinfeld have experience throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game. Alexander earned the honor from the Triple-A Syracuse Mets in 2019, while Seinfeld took the mound for the New York Mets in 2005 and 2019.
