Nick Robertson Recalled, Daniel Hudson Placed On Injured List
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Daniel Hudson on the 15-day injured list due to a sprained MCL in his right knee and recalled Nick Robertson from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Thursday’s series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hudson lands on the IL one day after converting a dramatic save. The Pirates loaded the bases with nobody out before Hudson managed to escape the jam without allowing a run.

The save was Hudson’s first since June of the 2022 season. He appeared in just three games since getting activated off the 60-day IL. Hudson’s recovery from last year’s ACL surgery was a longer process than first expected, and included multiple setbacks.

One of those was right ankle tendinitis that Hudson ultimately overcame this year but still had lingering discomfort in his left knee until receiving a cortisone injection that helped alleviate some of that.

Hudson joins a long list of Dodgers injuries that have ravaged the pitching staff. Earlier this week, the Dodgers put Clayton Kershaw on the IL because of left shoulder soreness.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had spoken fondly of Hudson’s return and the impact he was expected to have on a bullpen group that’s been mired in inconsistency this year.

Nick Robertson looking for better results

Robertson is back with the Dodgers six days after being part of the corresponding roster moves that were required to activate Daniel Hudson off the 60-day IL.

Robertson is eligible to make a quick return due to replacing an injured player on the active roster. Robertson made his MLB debut on June 7 and has turned in a scoreless appearance in three of six games.

However, Robertson still sports an inflated 7.04 ERA to go along with a 2.09 WHIP with the Dodgers. He’s fared much better for Oklahoma City, going 2-0 with seven saves, a 2.13 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 24 games.
