Padres Notes: Back in Business, Time for a Break, Batten's Hot Bat

The Padres finished the first half of the season Sunday afternoon with a 6-2 win over the New York Mets, winning the series and entering the All-Star Break after a 6-2 start to July.

Machado has been dominant, with two home runs Sunday and a .391 batting average over the last seven days. The Padres offense had 9 hits Sunday, their second time doing so in the series.

In other news, Jake Cronenworth is excited for a break from baseball, Matthew Batten was over the moon after hitting his first major-league homer and an MLB Insider still believes that San Diego could part ways with some of their stars before the trade deadline.
