Reports: Mets signing veteran RHP Julio Teheran
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets are finalizing a major league deal with right-hander Julio Teheran, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

The two-time All-Star would help bolster a pitching staff that has already had one starter land on the injured list. Further, early postponements have created havoc on the staff. The Mets would be his fifth career team.

The Mets would need to open a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate Teheran.

He appeared in 14 games (11 starts) for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023, going 3-5 with a 4.40 ERA. He's 81-82 with a 3.83 ERA in 254 career games (247 starts) with four teams.

Teheran opted out of his deal with the Baltimore Orioles this spring when he didn't make the MLB roster. He went 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in five appearances (four starts) during spring training.

Teheran, 33, has pitched in 30 games (29 starts) against the Mets in his career, going 10-10 with a 3.24 ERA. He is 6-4 with a 2.97 ERA in 15 starts at Citi Field.
