With the Texas Rangers in town, the Boston Red Sox found themselves in need of a little late-game magic in the bottom of the ninth.
The two teams opened up a four-game weekend series at Fenway Park on Thursday night.
It was a back-and-forth game at first, but in the top of the eighth, Texas had staked out an 8-3 lead.
Boston chipped away in the bottom half and kept it going in the ninth.
The Sox had tied it at eight when Rob Refsnyder came to the plate.
Refsnyder ended up playing the hero, lining one out to left to drive in the winning run.
After the game, Refsnyder talked a bit about his approach in that at-bat and revealed that he had been thinking about a potential walk-off hit, saying that it would be a heck of a time to get his first.

That’s The Spirit!
That’s the right attitude to have.
Boston chipped away late and set up a perfect scenario for Refsnyder to come through in the clutch.
Refsnyder knew his number might be called and he certainly made the most of his opportunity.
Having an opportunity to win a game for your team is exciting for any player, especially a guy like Refsnyder, who has bounced around and never been much more than just a role player.
But when it mattered most, he came through for the Red Sox and helped them pull off a jaw-dropping 9-8 comeback win in front of the Fenway faithful.
That was certainly a good time to pick up his first walk-off hit.
His confidence was high, and he took advantage of the chance he had, scoring big with his teammates and making Red Sox fans love him.
