Soon-To-Be Seattle Mariners Hall of Famer Felix Hernandez Goes Deep in Celebrity Softball Game at All-Star Festivities

Back in Seattle as one of the many Mariners legends taking place in the All-Star Game festivities, Felix Hernandez put on a show as part of the Celebrity Softball Game.

Playing alongside Mariners legends Bret Boone and Mike Cameron, former Mariners outfielder Adam Jones, Seattle native Zack Lavine (NBA), Chloe Kim (Olympian) and Jennie Finch, Hernandez went deep to give the hometown crowd a thrill.

Hernandez spent all 15 of his seasons in Seattle, establishing himself as one of the best players in franchise history. He won 169 games on the mound through some mostly lean years and pitched to a lifetime 3.42 ERA. He led the league in wins (19 in 2009), ERA twice, and won a Cy Young award in 2010. He was also a six-time All-Star himself.

Hernandez will be inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame this August to take his place with other Mariners legends including Dan Wilson, Alvin Davis, Ichiro Suzuki, Edgar Martinez and Ken Griffey Jr.

It's good to see him back in Seattle and happy, because there had been some controversy at the end of his Mariners tenure in terms of how he was utilized. The team even put him in the bullpen for a small stretch of 2018.

As for the current Mariners, they enter play on Sunday at 44-44 and in third place in the American League West.

They'll wrap up their series with the Houston Astros at 2:10 p.m. ET as Logan Gilbert pitches against Astros hurler Brandon Bielak.

The MLB All-Star Game is Tuesday night.
