The Twins' Carlos Correa may have fractured finger, X-ray shows

Minnesota Twins prized acquisition Carlos Correa may be out of action for a while after an X-ray showed that he potentially suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right middle finger, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Correa will undergo a CT scan Friday to confirm the severity of the injury.

Correa, 27, likely won't need surgery for the injury, according to Hayes, but would presumably be out of action for an extended period.

Correa was hit by a pitch during the fifth inning of the Twins' 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Later in the game, he grounded out to the pitcher in the seventh inning and took a pitch off of his knuckles in the process. He was replaced at shortstop by Nick Gordon in the bottom of the seventh.

In March, the Twins landed Correa on a three-year, $105.3 million contract, beating out other interested teams that included the Orioles, New York Yankees, and Chicago Cubs. Correa was a two-time All-Star during his career with the Houston Astros.

So far in 2022, Correa is batting .264 with five doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBI.
