This Astros Star Is About To Make Franchise History

One of the best players in Houston Astros history is about to reach a career milestone that has only been done by two others.

Coming off his American League Player of the Week award, Jose Altuve is knocking on the door to be only the third player in franchise history to have 2,000 career hits.

The only players to reach that mark are Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell.

Biggio finished with 3,060 hits and Bagwell finished with 2,314. Both players were with the organization for their entire careers.

Entering Monday, he sits at 1,993 and could hit the milestone in their series against the Miami Marlins. If he continues his hot hitting, a few multi-hit games would get him to the mark.

What would be better for Astros fans and all of baseball would be if he reached the milestone in his home park.

After the Marlins series, Houston hosts their AL West rival Seattle Mariners starting August 18th. If he doesn't get his 2,000th hit in Miami, he'll certainly do it in front of the home crowd.

Who knows how many hits Altuve will end his career with, but he's starting to build his own case for the Hall of Fame.

He has more All-Star selections than either Biggio or Bagwell. His MVP award is tied with Bagwell and he has won more World Series than both players combined.

The 33-year-old second baseman has put his stamp on the Astros organization. With the historic mark he's about to hit, he'll go down as one of the best players in franchise history.
