Twins' Carlos Correa responds to White Sox pitcher's 'cheater' comment

According to ESPN's Bradford Doolittle, Correa initially told reporters on Thursday that he was unaware of Middleton's comments.

The White Sox reliever struck out the former Houston Astros All-Star to end Wednesday's 6-4 win in favor of Chicago and recorded his first save since May 30, 2021, in the process. Correa had been 2-for-3 with two doubles in his career against Middleton prior to the punchout.

Middleton spent his first four MLB seasons with the Los Angeles Angels from 2017 to 2021, before playing with the Seattle Mariners last season. The righty signed with the Pale Hose in January and was recalled from Triple-A on April 10.

Correa was one of the main faces of the Astros from 2015 to 2021 before he joined the Twins and is still synonymous to many with Houston's sign-stealing scandal from the 2017 World Series and 2018 season.

Now in his second season in Minnesota, the two-time All-Star has three home runs, 12 RBIs and a .206/.287/.363 slash line through his first 27 games. Middleton, meanwhile, has a 2.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in his first nine 1/3 innings pitched covering 11 appearances with the White Sox.
